Celebrate
spring (2 amazing festivals)
Northern Virginia is full of spring events and fairs.
Make sure to check out Trip Advisor. You can also find here some beautiful
roads and hike trails, and offbeat weekend trips in the DC area. This list
of the best spring activities is a gift from the locals. They told us all
the amazing things that will happen throughout the season. Inquiring minds from
up north in Virginia wanted to know the best ways to welcome the arrival of
spring. As luck would have it, they recommended a plethora of fantastic
activities and events perfect for celebrating the arrival of spring. Our list is
full of great activities to welcome spring. You can find everything from
attending a festival to visiting a museum or taking a lovely drive through the
countryside to see the perfect sunset. Here are the two best festivals this
spring :
- The
2023 cherry blossom season is predicted to begin earlier than
usual. Tidal Basin is expected to have its peak bloom on March 23rd–25th,
according to the National Park Service.
- In
2023 you will be able to enjoy the Bluebell Festival. The Virginia
Bluebell Festival, which will be held in early April, is one of the most
well-attended events of the season. The event is great for families since
it has wildflower tours, arts and crafts (for grown-ups and kids), some
live music, special exhibitions, food trucks, and more.
Historic
Homes & Garden Tour in Alexandria
Five private gardens and six public buildings will host garden installations. They will also have plant
sales as part of the 90th yearly Historic Homes & Garden Tour. Visit flower
pots, doorways, and gates that are exquisitely ornamented. The price of the
self-guided tour ticket includes entry to Mount Vernon, George Washington's
home. Guests get a rare glimpse into luxurious mansions on these tours. That can
be very fun. In fact, this is one of the most popular tours amongst retirees.
You will be able to see those amazing old homes with
original wood flooring. There is a lot more to see for example the original
windows, gorgeous gardens, fantastic antique furniture, secret swimming pools,
gorgeous backyards, and lovely covered porches. One of the most eye-catching
features is the brightly painted front doors that border the old cobblestone
streets. The tours run as early as 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and the price is $55 in
advance or $65 on the day of the visit.
Even if you are moving here soon, don't start the tours
before you unpack. You won't be able to enjoy it fully. Movers like Zippy Shell Northern
Virginia can take care of that and then
as soon as they are done and you are all settled you can start exploring. Do
this the right way.
Point to
Point Races, Loudoun Hunt in Leesburg
Experience the excitement of horse racing at Morven Park
in the heart of Loudoun's horse country during the Hunt Point-to-Point Races.
Experience several exciting races, including the one-of-a-kind side saddle
competition. Because of the popularity of the PBS show Downton Abbey residents
decided that side saddle racing will be revived in Loudoun and they have done
it ever since the 1930s. This year marks the return to form for the 56th yearly
Loudoun Hunt Point to Point Races. The event is thrilling to witness since it
takes place on some of the most difficult timber and obstacle courses in
Virginia. The gates will open at about 10:00 am and the first race will start
at noon. Tickets for general admission are $40 in advance or at the door. If
you are moving to Leesburg, make sure to find some useful tips
before you start packing.
Fine Arts
Festival will be in Reston
This is one of the best places in the states for creatives. The Fine Arts Festival was once held every spring.
Now the locals call it the Tephra ICA Festival. This is one of the state's most
well-attended events. Traffic is diverted away from the streets of Reston Town
Center and art stalls line the sidewalks instead. Artists who work at each
booth are more than happy to talk about their work with visitors.
There's always a thing to buy, from enormous sculptures to
delicate earring designs. From prints and paintings to sculptures, antiques,
jewelry, apparel, and more, there is a wide variety of art that we find
fascinating. The Art Park is a great place to take the kids to see some
interesting artwork, and there are also plenty of activities for the whole
family to enjoy.
Potomac
Sunrises
Dyke Marsh and Belle Haven, located on the Potomac River in Alexandria, are great places to watch the sunset. Explore the marsh and its wildlife as you stroll along the trail. You can also rent kayaks at the marina and paddle out into the marsh to see it from a whole other perspective. From land or water, this park is happy to see spring return. Photographers from all over the world are coming here for the perfect picture. This is the best way to enjoy Northern Virginia.
