Best Chicago suburbs for starting a family

We will show you the best Chicago suburbs because they are the perfect place for starting a family. The city and the downtown, in general, can be great but for young families, the suburbs are a much better option. The air is less polluted, there is more greenery and parks, and they are safer and quieter. Of course, the prices are lower there and that is another plus for suburbs. If you are planning to relocate with your family or just with your partner to one of the Chicago suburbs we will show you where to look.

The best Chicago suburbs

When we started researching Chicago suburbs we took many factors into consideration like schools, playgrounds, safety, prices, other families, and such. This is what we came up with. After you see our list of the best ones we will show you how to get there easily and without any additional stress. This will be very helpful especially if you are already expecting a baby. The stress of relocation can be bad for pregnant ladies so we have a way to avoid it altogether.

  1. Long Grove
  2. Clarendon Hills
  3. Des Plaines

Chicago really is an amazing place but to raise a family you want a suburb like one of the three we just showed you.

Long Grove

This suburb was named to be one of the top 10 best places for families in the whole of the USA. Long Grove is a northwest suburb of Chicago and it has about 9000 residents. In order to preserve its "country atmosphere," this village made strict building ordinances. The Niche magazine says that this is one of the best places to live in Illinois and we believe them. If you have kids and they are not so excited about moving to the suburbs make sure to show them all the great parks and playgrounds this place has (and there is plenty to choose from). Surely that will make them change their minds. If you are wondering about safety, you don't have to worry. The crime rates are pretty low here.

Clarendon Hills

This is a village in DuPage County and it's about the same size as the Long Grove, and the number of residents is pretty much the same. Last year this was the best suburb of Illinois once again according to Niche magazine. But here is some even better info about this place if you check out the list of the best places to raise a family in America you will see Clarendon Hills under number 14. The only downside to this place is the prices, it is one of the most expansive suburbs in Illinois. So, before you decide to relocate here make sure to research the prices.

Des Plaines

Last but not least, Des Plaines. This is a much bigger and yet more affordable place. This place too can often be found among the top places to live in Illinois and it's especially great for families because of the great schools. Fun fact for you Des Plains was the site of Ray Kroc's first McDonald's franchise! It was opened back in 1955. The original restaurant was demolished in 1984, but a replica was built on the same site as a museum dedicated to McDonald's rich history. If you plan to relocate here make sure to reach out to skilled neighbors to help you to settle in quickly so you can start exploring everything Des Plaines has to offer you.

Suburbs are also better for dog owners.

Honorable mentions

The three we chose are not the only great Chicago suburbs, there are more as you can except. These are the best out of the best but here are some honorable mentions you should check out when exploring before you decide where you want to live.

  • Buffalo Grove
  • Wheaton
  • Lisle
  • Lincolnshire
  • Itasca
  • Elmhurst
  • Downers Grove

Moving to one of the Chicago suburbs

After you choose a place to live your next step will be buying a place, calling golansmoving.com, and relocating obviously. Hiring professional movers is the best way to relocate. They can handle pretty much everything you need them to start from the packing. Many people have a lot of household items and that makes packing very hard. Not for skilled people, they are trained to do this quickly but carefully. Of course, if you have any specialty items like a piano for example you need to tell them before the moving day so they can plan everything in order to accommodate you the best.

Moving and settling in

Unpacking and settling in is the last thing you will need to do and somehow it will be the hardest part of relocation. Mostly because you will be tired from all the previous work you had to do. If you packed correctly unpacking will not be so hard. When we say correctly we mean you decluttered before you packed, sorted everything by room, and labeled every box. If you feel too tired you can hire local movers to help you out. They will be able to unpack you quickly and then you can start making your new place a home. This can take some time but soon enough you will be raising a family here and making some of the best memories.

The whole process takes a lot of time but after that, you will be able to focus on your family and expand it by a few members.

Good luck and choose carefully

Good luck with choosing a perfect place to live in Chicago and make sure you make every decision together with your partner. That is the best way to start your new life together. Hopefully, our list of the best Chicago suburbs helped you and you will find your new home there.
